Problems with Maelstrom Games

Hey guys,

Normally I would just write a review of an online store I have purchased something from. But these are special circumstances, because I have had so much problems with this particular service. I'm talking about Maelstrom Games.

Seriously, stay far away from these guys...

I have ordered a bunch of Malifaux and other hobbies supplies over 2 1/2 months ago. All these items were in stock (according to their website anyways) but the first shipment took quite a while to get to me. It seems that they didn't have all these items in the warehouse so they ordered them as soon as I ordered from them. Because of this, my order got split numerous times. Which might be a good thing in hindsight, because if the rumours around the Internet are true, Maelstrom Games is insolvent.

I have read quite an informative thread over on Dakka Dakka yesterday which highlighted the problems this particular online shop has had in the past.

So do yourselves a favor and stay away from this store, because I'm still waiting for part of my order. Granted, it's just a Malifaux 1.5 Rulebook out of a 200 GBP order, but it still sucks. I read read about some other guys ordered quite a bit of stuff in the last months and haven't received anything so far.

Cheers,

Online Store Review: Air-Craft.net

Hey guys,

I wanted to tell you about one of the best airbrush-stores I've found so far: http://www.air-craft.net/. A few months back, I was in the market for a new compressor, as my old one was missing a tank. After a bit of a search, I found this site. The prices were great (you have to know that all things airbrush cost a small fortune in Germany - easily 1.5 or even more times as much as the same equipment in America or Great Britain.

1. Store Description, what do they sell?

They sell everything you need for airbrushing - and a whole lot more craft related items. I especially liked their "hard to find" section where I got a seam-scraper tool, which I have been looking for for ages.

2. What did I buy?

The compressor was easily the biggest item, but I also got a whole bunch of useful nic-nacs. A new cutting mat, a seam-scraper and a cleaning set.

3. Service Quality

The quality was excellent - easily the best customer support I ever encountered when shopping online. All my questions where answered quick and precise and very polite. As I said, my best online shopping experience so far.

4. Speed

The speed was typical courier speed from England to Germany. I had all my items in maybe a week or so. What really impressed me where the shipping costs, which were quite low, considering what a beast my new compressor I ordered from them was.

As I said, a real beast.

5.Would I buy there again?

Most definitely. The service top-notch. The prices - very impressive. The selection - gigantic. The delivery-speed - good. I would be a fool not to shop there again. And frankly, so would you ;-).

6. Verdict

Great store with a huge selection. Very clean and informative layout, great prices, great service. Aircraft.net is one of, if the the best online-store I've ordered from so far. This should be your first adress when you are in the market for all things airbrush.

Cheers,

Online Store Review - Der Fantasyladen (The Fantasy-Shop)

Hey guys!

We all have our brick and mortar stores we love to go to - often just to browse the merchandise and chat with our fellow gamers. But often enough, we do go online to buy our hobby needs there - maybe because they are cheaper or sell hard to find items, or even because their inventory is much easier to browse through.

In this new section of my blog, I will review the Online Stores I've already purchased hobby items from, to give you an impression if the shop is any good.

To start this off, I will begin with Der Fantasyladen (The Fantasy-Shop).

The cute store logo :-)

This is an Germany based store, so the layout and contents are much better in the original german language, although there is an english option.
